|Experienced leaders assume new roles with Consolidated Nuclear Security
Sievers named site manager, Scott becomes vice president
Oak Ridge, Tenn. – Two established leaders moved into new roles within Consolidated Nuclear Security. Gene Sievers, formerly vice president of the Mission Assurance organization, now serves as the Y-12 National Security Complex Site Manager. Blake Scott, previously senior director of Lithium Transformation, replaced Sievers as vice president of Mission Assurance.
In Sievers’ most recent role, he ensured production activities at Y-12 and at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas met the requirements of federal program and design agency customers. His responsibilities also included occupational health, environmental and safety programs, subject matter expertise for readiness activities, nuclear and explosives safety, and coordination with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Enforcement Coordination. Sievers’ tenure in Mission Assurance is notable for his exceptional leadership in coordinating CNS’ response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sievers previously served as the Y-12 deputy site manager, and he led the Y-12 Protective Force. A former U.S. Navy captain with 27 years of service, he holds a B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from West Virginia University and an M.B.A. from the Florida Institute of Technology.
Scott brings demonstrated leadership and operational experience
As senior director of Lithium Transformation, Scott was responsible for the development and implementation of the Lithium Strategy. He has a demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, work across organizational boundaries, and establish strong relationships with National Nuclear Security Administration, the national laboratories, and other production facilities.
Scott has programmatic and operations experience at Pantex and Y-12. He holds a B.S. degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from Purdue University and an M.S. in material science engineering from the University of Virginia.
