Hutment Exhibit Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 040123
On Saturday, April 1st, the Oak Ridge History Museum will host a ribbon cutting for its new Hutment Exhibit. On display will be an authentic reproduction of an Oak Ridge Manhattan Project “Hutment” which will provide insight into a type of housing provided for many of the workers who came to Oak Ridge to build the wartime manufacturing facilities during World War II. The new exhibit will highlight the accommodations provided for African American workers in Oak Ridge during the war years.

1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDTThe celebration will commence at 1 PM with presentations on Manhattan Project housing and the construction of the Hutment replica. At 2 PM the ribbon will be cut, and the exhibit will officially open for viewing by museum guests. There is no admission charge for the museum that day. The museum will be open from 11 AM until 4 PM.
