SUMMARY:"Reverse" Parade - It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas 2020
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce our plans for this year's Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce holiday event. We are going to host a "reverse" parade! The deadline to register is Friday\, December 4. \n\n\n\nTo download a printable flyer\, click here. https://chambermaster.blob.core.windows.net/userfiles/UserFiles/chambers/2441/File/ReverseParadeFlyer2020.pdf\n\n\n\nWhat is a Reverse Parade?\n\nIt's a parade where the floats are stationary and attendees will drive the parade route to view the fun. Parade floats will line one side of Lafayette Road and spectators will drive down the other side of the road to enjoy your creativity from the safety and comfort of their own vehicle.\n\n\n\nDue to COVID-19 concerns\, in consultation with leaders from the City of Oak Ridge\, the decision was made to modify plans from our traditional parade this year.\n\n\n\nEach entry will have an assigned space along the northbound side of Lafayette Drive (towards the Turnpike) for its float/display. We will provide a staging area (details will be shared at a later date) so you can prepare your entry. At 6:00 p.m. on Saturday\, December 12\, vehicles will be escorted by members of the Oak Ridge Police Department down the southbound land of Lafayette Drive (towards Illinois Avenue) to view all of the beautiful and creative entries they have come to expect from our parade.\n\n\n\nWe hope you will plan to participate in this special new concept and help make this a highlight of the holiday season for our community.\n\n\n\nCOVID-19 Safety Guidelines\n\nWe urge you to follow the following COVID-19 guidelines as you plan your entry:\n\n Wear a mask in congested areas and when in close contact with someone who isn't part of your family unit.\n Consider limiting the number of people on your float/entry (each individual on your float should be given 6 square feet of space)\n Plan to bring hand sanitizer for your group\n Per Governor Lee's Tennessee Pledge guidelines for parades\, you may not distribute candy\, toys or other items as part of your entry. \n\nStay tuned we will be sharing more information with you as plans continue. We appreciate your patience as we continue to plan this event. It's as new for us as it is for you and plans are very fluid things may change as we go along. Our goal is the same as yours to provide a fun\, safe\, memorable event.\n\n\n\nTo register your entry\, click here. \n\nTo view a map\, click here.
