VALUE Series Kicks Off
The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce a new networking and education opportunity: The VALUE Series. The debut session will be held on Tuesday, April 26 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. The topic will be "Women Owned Business: How the New SBA Rules Impact Government Contracts." The speaker will be Saundra Jackson of the Small Business Administration. There is no charge to attend, however a box lunch is available for a cost of $12 for those who request one by Friday, April 22. Chamber membership is not a requirement for attendance.
According to John Shewairy, U.S. Department of Energy Oak Ridge Office (Acting) Assistant Manager for Administration and Director of the Public Affairs Office and chair of the Oak Ridge Chamber's Organizational Value area, "VALUE stands for Venture, Achieve, Learn, Understand and Evolve. We want to provide area businesses with another opportunity for networking with one another as well as the opportunity to take some knowledge away from these sessions. There will be a variety of topics offered, so there should be something that appeals to just about everyone."
Greta Ownby, Executive Vice President of the Chamber said, "The VALUE Series sessions will be conducted mid-day, typically on Tuesdays unless the program lends itself to a different day. Lunches will be made available for a fee with advanced notice. Topics will range from those that address small businesses to some that are geared toward larger companies. Some topics will be technical, while others will be light and more informational perhaps with a nod towards entertainment.'"
There will be at least one VALUE Series session each month. The sessions will be free unless a speaker or topic requires a fee.
Future VALUE series topics will include:
• Proposal Writing
• Social Networking
