Oak Ridge Chamber is Finalist for Chamber of the Year Award
The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce has been named a finalist for the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) Chamber of the Year Award. It is one of two finalist chambers within its peer group. The winner will be announced later this summer at the ACCE conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The Chamber of the Year award recognizes the role chambers play in leading businesses and communities. The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce initially qualified for the award through a multi-stage process involving an operational survey and examination of supporting documentation and exhibits. A final interview will occur in coming weeks.
The Oak Ridge Chamber was previously a finalist for the award in 2008.
According to Chuck Hope, owner of Chuck's Car Care and Chairman of the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce's Board of Directors, "Being named one of the finalists for this award is a huge honor for the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce. Those of us who are a part of the Chamber already know what a great organization it is. It's exciting to see that it's being recognized on a national level. I think it's great to let our community and our membership know how lucky we are to have a chamber of this caliber here in Oak Ridge."
Tom Hilton, President of Y-12 Federal Credit Union and Immediate-past-chairman of the Chamber's Board of Directors commented, "Qualifying for this award demonstrates the excellence of your Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce, and it also shows the kind of outstanding volunteer leadership we are fortunate to have in this chamber. This chamber is a contender for this award because of the strong partnership it has between its dedicated volunteers and its professional staff."
Parker Hardy, President and CEO said, "This sort of recognition helps us to constantly examine our programs and our operations in light of industry best practices and that's important to us and, I believe, to the Oak Ridge community."
The Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce is a Four-Star Accredited Chamber of Commerce with approximately 700 members.
